one of my favorite things in Brooklyn Nine Nine is when you can tell the writers were like “you know, Andre Braugher is an extremely talented Shakespearean actor who graduated top of his class at Juilliard…..what if we took advantage of that for our sitcom”
Black lesbians so that the film doesn’t grossly whitewash jazz and the actual struggles black musicians went through 🙂
Consider: La La Land with black lesbians played by actresses who can actually sing and dance so instead of being a lack luster imitation of the golden age musical it is the sparkling revival of the genre with modern sensibilities.
The best part is the audience was like so taken about about the SPOT ON remarks on race relations. Their gasps were like “OH NOOO THIS IS THE NINETIES NO ONE THINKS LIKE THAT!!!!”
