My orthodontist office is mostly kids (because most people probably don’t wait for adulthood to get braces?) And there’s this toddler dancing around as I type. Somewhere between 3 and 5, she’s wearing this big puffy skirt and like, rainbow sneakers and dancing and singing her little heart out like this waiting room is her own personal stage and honestly I have never felt so much joy as watching this little tot dance. I don’t know if her song is from a kids movie or if she’s making it up but I am feeling it. Every time she falls she makes it dramatic and works it but also gets back up. I’ve never admired someone more.

I am done with anti-medicine nuts who are like “God gave us all we need in nature” yup he sure did. wtf do you think scientists use to make their medicines? where do you think they got all those chemicals. they didn’t summon them from the void. we haven’t outsourced to alien planets. everything came from this earth. we just tweaked them into something more effective. taking a long walk in the woods and chewing on plants never made me feel less like dying but taking prozac sure fucking did.
i think we all have that one piece of media we like that’s basically “i love this thing, but i dont think everyone should watch this thing and would not categorically recommend it to other people i know, this thing has a lot of problems and i am the first person you should ask if you want to know a long list of criticisms, but i REALLY ENJOY THIS THING” its like holding up a can of trash to everyone else and saying “you are a reasonable person and you would not enjoy touching this garbage and i value that about you” and then pouring it out on the ground and rolling around in it yourself
the thing about millennials who don’t want kids is I feel like a lot of them are deeply On Board for their friends’ kids
like I’m among the minority of my friends in definitely for sure wanting kids someday
but each of my parenthood-eschewing friends has claimed a different role in my future offspring’s life and they seem very excited to play it
so we as a generation may have fewer children
but I feel like they’ll be the most supported and loved children imaginable
As a millennial who doesn’t want children, I am seconding this, because it’s not like we don’t want children to exist in the world! We do! Children can be lovely and amazing and they are literally our future! It’s just So Very Difficult to raise children in our nuclear-family society, especially as a millennial, and you want to do the job RIGHT.
Well, if you can’t do the job right yourself, the least you can do is help a friend raise THEIR child right, help take the burden off their shoulders, and give that kid all the love and attention they can stand.
I’d be damned excited to do that, too.
this generation is so excited and ready to be weird uncle/aunt so-and-so
hey idk if this has been done before but im curious. reblog this w/ your fave fast food restaurant and what you like to get there
I met a man so beautiful
you know what trope I hate? When a (het) couple is getting ready for some fancy event and the dude is fumbling with a bowtie (with terrible results) and the chick just shakes her head and is like “get over here you useless oaf” and ties his bowtie?? Like??? Why would she know how to tie a bowtie??
I’m curious– What style of clothing would y’all wear if public ridicule, financial limitations, and general inconvenience weren’t a thing?
I’d wear ball gowns; I’m talmbout big, flowy, fluffy chiffon and taffeta 1980s prom night sequined nightmares. Catch me buying Hot Pockets at the Wal*Mart looking like Jennifer Connelly’s hallucination in Labyrinth.
