Incomplete, inarticulate thought: It is usually shitty to define yourself as ‘not like other girls’, because it implies contempt of other girls.

However, for many young girls, seeing themselves as ‘not like other girls’ is the first step towards expressing their dissatisfaction with the limiting and harmful forms of femininity they’re supposed to conform to. Also, girls who get routinely punished by authority figures or by their peers for not being girly enough, or being girly in the wrong way, are being completely logical when they draw the conclusion that they are not like other girls: if they were, they’d be left alone. (I’m talking about lesbian girls, GNC girls, disabled girls, neurodivergent girls, working class girls, but also just girls who are not good at the social role ‘girl’.)

I think internalized sexism works in complicated ways and we will always feel the need to condemn other women to prove we’re the good ones. But I’m done seeing women go: I hate girls who think they’re not like other girls, soooo sexist! Ew, I’m not like those other girls who say they’re not like other girls!

I’d prefer it if we could support and educate girls who took that clumsy, shaky first step, and help them towards a feminist view, as opposed to internalized misogyny. Contempt of women who are contemptuous of women does not solve the problem.

fun fact but actually children’s safety IS every adults responsibility

you should do everything in your power to ensure that kids around you stay safe

its not one or two peoples responsibility, its fuckin everyone’s because its a huge goddamn job and kids cannot fend for themselves, thats the definition of childhood

listing your age or at least that you are an adult somewhere visible on your blog is the bare minimum so that kids can AT LEAST be aware that you are older than them and can avoid you if they dont feel safe or avoid treating you like one of their peers by accident

Trans Keith, Pidge, and Lance Headcanons

cotton–candy–gems:

• Keith had a lot of trouble transitioning as a kid because his foster homes rarely helped him, and he would always be introduced as “a girl going through a phase”

• Lance thought that Pidge was a trans boy and that’s why he never said anything.
• “I thought you were TRANS, not a girl just pretending to be a boy!” “What no lol I’m still super hecking trans”

• Lance and Pidge’s families were both super supportive, if not a little confused.

• Lance has his normal black binder, but he has other ones with patterns and designs that he likes a lot better.
• His favorite is a blue galaxy print one. Other noteworthy binders are his water type pokemon one, his wave patterned one, and one with sharks on it.

• Keith’s first binder was just a normal one that he only got after being taken in by Shiro.
• Lance got him a space patterned one and it’s now Keith’s favorite.

• Shiro isn’t trans, but he is super supportive of all the paladins who are!

• Shiro once thought that he could use his galra hand as a heating pad to help Keith, who was having his period.
• Keith screamed, punched Shiro, fell off his bed, and cried a little bit.
• Shiro doesn’t do that anymore.

• Somebody purposely misgendered Lance for a long amount of time at the Garrison. Hunk sat on them.

• Before getting his first binder, Keith binded with pretty much anything he could get his hands on, including duct tape (someone help him before he kills himself).

• When Lance came out as trans, Keith just kind of….silently threw his shirt on the ground while making unbreakable eye contact with him.

• Pidge: Wait, with you, me, and Keith, there are more paladins of Voltron who are trans than there are paladins who are cis.
• Lance: Voltrans…….
